KUAH, LANGKAWI (MALAYSIA): A Quiet Gem Away from the Crowds

Kuah is the largest town on the island of Langkawi and for many travelers often just a short stopover. For me, however, it was a small discovery – calm, authentic, and surprisingly relaxed.
I visited Kuah in early November, outside the main season. The weather during this time was very changeable – sunshine, clouds, short rain showers, sometimes all within just a few minutes. You can see exactly this mix in the video.
The great advantage of traveling at this time: Kuah was almost completely empty in many places. Hardly any tourists, lots of calm, lots of space – perfect for experiencing the town at its own pace.
Many shots could be captured without any distractions, some even completely without people in the frame. This gives the video a very relaxed, almost meditative mood. That is exactly the feeling I wanted to convey through the choice of music: calm, warm, unhurried – a place where you pause for a moment and truly unwind.
Kuah is located directly by the sea and offers beautiful panoramic views over the coast, the harbor, and the surrounding islands. Especially from the air, this place reveals its unique character. I had plenty of space to work with the drone and capture these calm, wide perspectives that further enhance the relaxed feeling of this place.
Kuah may not be a classic postcard destination, but for me it is a true hidden gem. Unpretentious, honest, and pleasantly understated. Precisely for these reasons, this place surprised and convinced me.
Kuah is still largely unknown in many parts of the world – which makes me even happier to share this small gem with you.

Kuah ist die größte Stadt auf der Insel Langkawi und für viele Reisende oft nur ein kurzer Zwischenstopp. Für mich war sie jedoch eine kleine Entdeckung – ruhig, authentisch und überraschend entspannt.
Ich war Anfang November in Kuah, außerhalb der Hauptsaison. Das Wetter war in dieser Zeit sehr wechselhaft – Sonne, Wolken, kurze Regenschauer, manchmal alles innerhalb weniger Minuten. Genau diese Mischung sieht man auch im Video.
Der große Vorteil dieser Reisezeit: Kuah war über weite Strecken fast menschenleer. Kaum Touristen, viel Ruhe, viel Raum – perfekt, um die Stadt ganz in ihrem eigenen Rhythmus zu erleben.
Viele Aufnahmen konnten ohne Ablenkung entstehen, teilweise komplett ohne Menschen im Bild. Das verleiht dem Video eine sehr entspannte, fast meditative Stimmung. Genau dieses Gefühl wollte ich auch mit der Musikauswahl transportieren: ruhig, warm, entschleunigt – ein Ort, an dem man kurz innehält und zur Ruhe kommt.
Kuah liegt direkt am Meer und bietet an vielen Stellen ein wunderschönes Panorama über die Küste, den Hafen und die umliegende Inselwelt. Gerade aus der Luft entfaltet dieser Ort seinen ganz eigenen Reiz. Ich hatte hier viel Raum, um mit der Drohne zu arbeiten und diese ruhigen, weiten Perspektiven einzufangen, die das entspannte Gefühl dieses Ortes zusätzlich unterstreichen.
Kuah ist vielleicht kein klassisches Postkartenmotiv, aber für mich ein echtes Kleinod. Unaufgeregt, ehrlich und angenehm zurückhaltend. Gerade deshalb hat mich dieser Ort überrascht und überzeugt.
Hierzulande ist Kuah kaum bekannt – umso mehr freue ich mich, diese kleine Perle mit euch teilen zu können.
