SINGAPORE – see the impressive city that words can’t describe!

Singapore is the smallest state in Southeast Asia in terms of area and one of the smallest countries in the world. Along with Hong Kong, it is considered Asia’s most important business and financial centre. 

I rarely have experienced a more diverse place than Singapore. The people, the atmosphere and the multifaceted and varied cityscape – a wonderful mix of Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, Arabic and English culture – thrilled me right away. Each district offers a world of its own, and all of them unfold an impressive charm that is impossible to resist. 

Creating these two videos was a hard work for me. I had previously made videos about smaller cities and places, but I had never portrayed a city the size of Singapore. And I realised very quickly that this is not as easy as I thought. 

I worked on the Singapore videos for a total of 2 months and went through all the phases: I deleted drafts completely and started all over again, and I also thought a few times that I am not able to do it and wanted to give up. But somehow I managed to pull through, and now I’m happy to present my two “One Day in Singapore” videos to you.

Singapur ist der flächenmäßig kleinste Staat Südostasiens und gilt neben Hongkong als wichtigster Finanzplatz Asiens. 

Ich habe kaum einen vielfältigeren Ort als Singapur erlebt. Die Menschen, das Flair, die Atmosphäre und das facettenreiche und abwechslungsreiche Stadtbild – eine wunderbare Mischung aus malaysischer, indischer, chinesischer, arabischer und englischer Kultur – begeisterten mich auf Anhieb. Jeder Stadtteil bietet eine ganz eigene Welt, und jeder einzelne entfaltet einen beeindruckenden Charme, dem man sich nicht entziehen kann. 

Das Erstellen der beiden Videos war für mich eine echte Herausforderung. Ich hatte ja bisher eher über kleinere Städte und Orte Videos gemacht, eine Stadt der Größe Singapurs hatte ich noch nicht porträtiert. Und da habe ich sehr schnell gemerkt, dass dies nochmal eine andere Hausnummer ist.

Ich habe insgesamt 2 Monate an den Singapur Videos gearbeitet und dabei alle Phasen durchlebt: Dass ich Entwürfe nochmal komplett gelöscht und wieder von vorne angefangen habe und auch, dass ich mittendrin ein paarmal dachte, dass ich das nicht auf die Reihe bekomme und aufgeben wollte. Aber ich habe mich dann doch irgendwie durchgebissen, und jetzt bin ich froh darüber, Euch meine beiden “One Day in Singapore” Teile präsentieren zu können.
