BANGKOK, Part 3: Let’s visit one of the largest temple complexes of the city!
Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is right behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – it’s a must-see for any first-time visitor to Bangkok. It is one of the most important Buddhist temple complexes in the Thai capital. You will discover many beautiful things: colorfuly decorated chedis, golden Buddha statues, beautiful mural paintings, stone statues and many different temple buildings. As one of the largest temple complexes in the city, it’s famed for its giant reclining Buddha that is 46 meters long, covered in gold leaf.The Buddha’s feet are 5 meters long and exquisitely decorated in mother-of-pearl illustrations of auspicious laksanas (characteristics) of the Buddha.
Wat Saket in Bangkok, better known as the Golden Mount, is a Buddhist temple located in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district. This impressive temple complex is certainly one of the most beautiful sights in Bangkok. It takes 318 steps up to the golden Chedi, and from the top, the scenery is awe-inspiring. Here, from the terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view far across the rooftops of the city. But also the ascent to Wat Saket, with all its beautiful bells, mystical statues and many details, is really worth seeing.

Wat Pho (der Tempel des liegenden Buddhas) oder Wat Phra Chetuphon liegt direkt hinter dem Tempel des Smaragdbuddhas und ist ein Muss für jeden Besucher, der zum ersten Mal nach Bangkok kommt. Er ist einer der wichtigsten buddhistischen Tempelkomplexe in der thailändischen Hauptstadt. Hier gibt es sehr viel Schönes zu entdecken: bunt verzierte Chedis, goldene Buddha-Statuen, wunderschöne Wandmalereien, Steinstatuen und viele verschiedene Tempelgebäude. Sehr bekannt ist auch der riesige liegende Buddha, der 46 Meter lang und mit Blattgold überzogen ist. Alleine die Füße des Buddhas sind 5 Meter lang und mit Perlmuttillustrationen von glückverheißenden Laksanas (Eigenschaften) verziert.
Wat Saket in Bangkok, besser bekannt als der Goldene Berg, ist ein buddhistischer Tempel im Stadtteil Pom Prap Sattru Phai. Diese beeindruckende Tempelanlage ist sicherlich eine der schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten in Bangkok. Bis zum goldenen Chedi sind es 318 Stufen, und von oben bietet sich ein atemberaubender Anblick. Von der Terrasse aus genießt man einen atemberaubenden Panoramablick weit über die Dächer der Stadt. Aber auch der Aufstieg zum Wat Saket, mit all seinen schönen Glocken, mystischen Statuen und vielen Details, ist sehr sehenswert.
