BUCHAREST – A city full of surprises
Bucharest is full of surprises – and that’s what makes this city so fascinating. 🇷🇴
Romania’s capital is known for its grand architecture, wide boulevards and vibrant city life. But my journey begins somewhere many people probably wouldn’t expect: in Bucharest’s beautiful green parks.
From the peaceful King Michael I Park (Herăstrău Park) to Orășelul Copiilor and Tineretului Park, the city first reveals a calm and relaxing side. From there, we continue to the Triumphal Arch, the beautiful Stavropoleos Monastery, and finally into Bucharest’s charming Old Town.
Along the way, we’ll visit landmarks including the elegant Romanian Athenaeum, the Carol I Central University Library, and the historic Revolution Square. Before reaching the grand finale, we spend some time at the spectacular fountains of Piața Unirii, part of the world’s longest choreographed fountain system. Our journey concludes at one of Europe’s most remarkable buildings – the monumental Palace of the Parliament.
Bucharest is a city of contrasts. Quiet parks and elegant architecture stand alongside busy boulevards, endless traffic and the constant sound of car horns. These contrasts are what give Romania’s capital its unique character.

Bukarest überrascht – und genau das macht diese Stadt so faszinierend. 🇷🇴
Die Hauptstadt Rumäniens ist bekannt für ihre prachtvolle Architektur, imposanten Boulevards und den lebhaften Verkehr. Doch meine Reise beginnt an einem Ort, den viele mit Bukarest vielleicht gar nicht verbinden: in den weitläufigen, grünen Parks der Stadt.
Vom weitläufigen Parcul Herăstrău über den Orășelul Copiilor bis zum Parcul Tineretului zeigt Bukarest zunächst eine entspannte und naturnahe Seite. Anschließend führt uns der Weg zum Triumphbogen, zur Stavropoleos-Kirche und schließlich in die historische Altstadt.
Dort entdecken wir unter anderem das elegante Rumänische Athenäum, die Biblioteca Centrală Universitară „Carol I“ und den geschichtsträchtigen Revolutionsplatz. Bevor unsere Reise ihren Höhepunkt erreicht, verweilen wir an den beeindruckenden Fontänen des Piața Unirii, die Teil des längsten choreografierten Brunnensystems der Welt sind. Den Abschluss bildet eines der eindrucksvollsten Bauwerke Europas – der monumentale Parlamentspalast.
Bukarest ist eine Stadt der Kontraste. Zwischen ruhigen Parks und prachtvollen Bauwerken pulsiert das Leben: breite Straßen, dichter Verkehr, unzählige Autos und das typische Hupen prägen ebenso das Stadtbild wie historische Architektur und grüne Rückzugsorte. Genau diese Gegensätze machen den besonderen Reiz der Stadt aus.
