CAVTAT – A timeless Adriatic town in Croatia
Cavtat is considered one of Croatia’s most beautiful coastal towns and lies just a few kilometres south of Dubrovnik. In this video, I take you on a cinematic journey through its historic Old Town, along the beautiful waterfront promenade and to some of the most stunning viewpoints overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Although Cavtat is only a stone’s throw from Dubrovnik, it reveals a completely different side of the Croatian coast – especially outside the main tourist season. Its peaceful atmosphere and relaxed pace of life touched me deeply.
After taking in panoramic views of Cavtat, we visit the Church of St. Nicholas, stroll along the beautiful waterfront promenade and discover the Church of Our Lady of the Snow. We then explore the charming Old Town, enjoy breathtaking views of the sea, the surrounding mountains and the picturesque harbour, and follow the long seaside promenade that makes Cavtat one of the most beautiful places on Croatia’s Adriatic coast.
As always, I tried to capture the unique atmosphere of Cavtat through images, camera movement and music. Moving timelapse sequences appear throughout the video, adding depth to the scenes and beautifully illustrating how harmoniously Cavtat is nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding mountains, enhancing the special atmosphere of this remarkable place.
As the music gently fades during the end credits, there is also time for a quiet and reflective moment. Together, we visit a peaceful place above the town – the cemetery of Cavtat. Lovingly maintained and adorned with countless colourful flowers, it radiates a sense of tranquillity and, for me, provides a deeply human and dignified conclusion to this journey.

Cavtat gilt als einer der schönsten Küstenorte Kroatiens und liegt nur wenige Kilometer südlich von Dubrovnik. In diesem Video nehme ich Dich mit auf eine cineastische Reise durch die historische Altstadt, entlang der Promenade und zu den schönsten Aussichtspunkten dieses idyllischen Ortes an der Adria.
Obwohl Cavtat nur einen Katzensprung von Dubrovnik entfernt liegt, zeigt sich der Ort – insbesondere außerhalb der Hauptsaison – von seiner ruhigen und entspannten Seite. Genau diese besondere Atmosphäre hat mich sehr berührt.
Nachdem wir uns zunächst einen Überblick über Cavtat verschafft haben, besuchen wir die Church of St. Nicholas, spazieren entlang der wunderschönen Strandpromenade und entdecken die Church of Our Lady of the Snow. Anschließend erkunden wir die verwinkelte Altstadt, genießen die herrlichen Ausblicke auf das Meer, die umliegenden Berge und den malerischen Hafen und folgen dem langen Uferweg, der Cavtat zu einem der schönsten Orte an der kroatischen Adriaküste macht.
Wie immer habe ich versucht, die einzigartige Atmosphäre von Cavtat mit Bildern, Kamerabewegungen und Musik einzufangen. Bewegte Zeitrafferaufnahmen begleiten das gesamte Video und verleihen den Szenen zusätzliche Tiefe. Sie zeigen eindrucksvoll, wie harmonisch sich Cavtat zwischen der Adria und den umliegenden Bergen in die Landschaft einfügt, und unterstreichen die besondere Stimmung dieses wunderschönen Ortes.
Im Abspann, wenn die Musik langsam ausklingt, ist auch noch Zeit für einen ganz stillen Moment. Gemeinsam besuchen wir einen andächtigen Ort oberhalb der Stadt – den Friedhof von Cavtat. Mit seiner liebevollen Pflege und den vielen farbenfrohen Blumen strahlt er eine besondere Ruhe aus und bildet für mich einen sehr menschlichen und würdevollen Abschluss dieser Reise.
