POZNAŃ – A city full of color, history & unique atmosphere

Poznań is one of Poland’s most fascinating historic cities – with a colourful Old Town, impressive architecture and so many sights to discover.
If you know my videos, you probably know how much I love historic old towns. And for me, Poland’s old towns have a very special charm of their own. Poznań really impressed me – with its colourful façades, beautiful architecture and an Old Town where there is so much to see.
We start right at my personal highlight: the beautiful Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) with its colourful houses and impressive Town Hall. I deliberately dedicated quite a bit of time to this part of the city – with its own musical accompaniment.
From there, we continue through the Old Town and discover many more interesting corners of Poznań. Some of the highlights of this city portrait include the Royal Castle, Freedom Square (Plac Wolności) and Mickiewicz Square, as well as the Imperial Castle. We then visit the magnificent Poznań Fara, historic Cathedral Island (Ostrów Tumski) with Poznań Cathedral, and finally Stary Browar. And of course, there is plenty more to discover along the way. A few more impressions of the city bring our journey through Poznań to an end.
But it’s worth staying for the end credits too: things become a little quieter as we take a look inside two of the city’s most impressive churches – first the Cathedral on Ostrów Tumski, followed by the Poznań Fara.
And after that, there’s a little bonus. We leave the historic centre behind and head out to Lake Malta, where we also take a ride on the Maltanka Park Railway (Kolejka Parkowa Maltanka). A lovely contrast to the historic city centre and a completely different side of Poznań.
This city portrait has actually become my second-longest video so far. But Poznań simply had too much to offer to keep it short. I think the city is worth every minute – and hopefully there isn’t a dull second. But I’m especially curious to hear what you think: How did you like the video?
