An old town pearl close to Frankfurt city is waiting to be discovered: HÖCHST!
Time seems to pass very quickly and it’s been already more than a year since I released my last Frankfurt video. So it’s time to show you a little more of my adopted hometown Frankfurt am Main.
For my new video, I chose the district of Höchst, which is only about 8 km away from Frankfurt’s city centre. With a beautiful half-timbered old town as protected historical site and idyllic location on the banks of the Main river Höchst is a perfect destination for all visitors to Frankfurt.
I love Höchst’s old town which, by the way, survived the Second World War without any significant damage. A special eye-catcher is undoubtedly Hoechst Castle which was built in several phases between the 13th and 16th centuries. Very close to the castle is Frankfurt’s oldest building: the Carolingian Justinuskirche built around 830 with its three-nave basilica and 15th-century High Gothic choir. As typical for me, I focused especially on the historic old town which is really worth seeing. Follow me through the medieval streets to the various sights of Höchst. I wasn’t able to show everything in details as for example the Bolongaro Palace due to its re-construction but believe me, Hoechst old town has so much to offer anyway.

Die Zeit vergeht gefühlt sehr schnell, und seit meinem letzten Frankfurt-Video ist schon wieder etwas mehr als ein Jahr vergangen. Höchste Zeit also, euch wenig mehr von meiner Wahlheimatstadt Frankfurt am Main zu zeigen.
Für mein neues Video habe ich mir den Stadtteil Höchst ausgesucht, der nur rund 8,2km von der Frankfurter Innenstadt entfernt ist und mit seiner wunderschönen, unter Denkmalschutz stehenden, Fachwerkaltstadt und seiner idyllischen Lage am Ufer des Mains ein ideales Ausflugsziel für alle Frankfurt-Besucher darstellt.
Ich liebe die Höchster Altstadt, die übrigens den Zweiten Weltkrieg ohne nennenswerte Schäden überstanden hat. Ein besonderer Blickfang ist zweifellos das Höchster Schloß, das in mehreren Phasen zwischen dem 13. bis 16. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde. Ganz in der Nähe des Schlosses steht das älteste Bauwerk Frankfurts: Die um 830 erbaute karolingische Justinuskirche mit ihrer dreischiffigen Basilika und dem hochgotischen Chor aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Bleibt auf jeden Fall bis nach dem Abspann meines Videos dran. 😉
Wie ihr es ja schon von mir kennt, habe ich mich ganz besonders auf die historische Altstadt konzentriert, die wirklich sehr sehenswert ist. Folgt mir durch die mittelalterlichen Straßen zu den verschiedenen Sehenswürdigkeiten von Höchst. Ich konnte zwar nicht alles zeigen, da ich aufgrund von Bauarbeiten beispielsweise den Bolongaro-Palast nicht aus der Nähe filmen konnte, aber glaubt mir, es lohnt sich trotzdem, da Höchst so viel zu bieten hat.
